Holiday Permit Office Closures and Oversize Travel Restrictions by State

As we close out 2025, carriers, shippers, and project managers are once again navigating the annual Christmas and New Year’s oversize travel restrictions. Every state sets its own rules, but the pattern is clear: most DOTs pause or significantly limit oversize/overweight movement from December 24-26 and again from December 31-January 1. These shutdowns affect everything from single-day moves to multi-state corridors, which means holiday planning is not the time for guesswork or last-minute scrambling. With construction projects, machinery relocations, and year-end deliveries all converging during one of the busiest travel periods of the year, even a one-day restriction can shift an entire schedule.

At My PEVO, this season is where our service really shines. Whether it’s securing a hard-to-get escort team for a restart on December 27, or adjusting a multi-state route to avoid a New Year’s blackout window, we handle the logistics behind the scenes so our clients experience a calm, predictable workflow during a period that’s traditionally stressful. Holiday oversize travel restrictions are unavoidable, but with strategic planning and clear communication, they never have to derail your project.
