Starting a business is never easy—especially in the middle of a global crisis. When the Covid shutdown hit, many industries came to a standstill. For us, it was a moment of decision. Do we wait for the perfect time, or do we take action and create something new? That’s how My PEVO was born. It was not easy for us to turn uncertainty into opportunity.
Recently, our co-founder, Allegra Al Smadi, sat down for an interview on The Business Spotlight to share our journey—how we built My PEVO into what it is today and the lessons we’ve learned along the way.

Building a Business in Uncertain Times
When we first started My PEVO, we didn’t have all the answers. But we had a clear vision: to provide a better experience for the heavy haul industry by offering seamless pilot car project operations.
Many companies struggle with escort services that are inconsistent, difficult to coordinate, and full of unnecessary communication. We saw an opportunity to streamline the process, eliminate inefficiencies, and create a professional, well-managed service that helps clients move oversize loads smoothly.
Success didn’t come overnight. It took commitment, adaptability, and humility—knowing that we had a lot to learn along the way.
Key Lessons from Our Journey
During the interview, Allegra shared some of the biggest takeaways from our experience:
1. Commitment is Everything
Starting a business requires more than just an idea—it takes action. You can’t wait for everything to be perfect. If you want to grow, you have to keep moving forward, even when the path isn’t clear.
2. Adaptability is the Key to Survival
The transportation industry is constantly evolving, with changing regulations, shifting market demands, and new challenges every day. Being flexible and willing to adjust our approach has been a huge factor in our success.
3. Humility Leads to Growth
One of the most important lessons we’ve learned is that we don’t know it all. The best business owners and leaders are the ones who stay open to learning from their team, their clients, and their industry peers.
4. Mindset Matters
Allegra is a firm believer in the phrase: “Nothing changes if nothing changes.” If you want to see growth, improvement, or success, you have to be willing to take action and embrace change.
