Transporting oversize (OS) and overweight (OW) freight is a challenge year-round, but doing so around a major holiday like Thanksgiving adds an extra layer of complexity.

OSOW freight requires permits from every state and local jurisdiction it passes through, and on Thanksgiving—Thursday, November 28, 2024—many states place additional restrictions on over-dimensional (OD) freight movement. Some states prohibit it entirely, while most permit offices will be closed for the holiday.

Understanding which states allow OD freight travel on Thanksgiving is essential for avoiding delays and unexpected fees, especially during one of the busiest travel days of the year.

Plan Ahead to Keep Your Shipments Moving

At My PEVO, we’re your pilot car/escort vehicle experts for OSOW freight year-round, including during holidays. Our team works tirelessly to help our customers stay compliant with state and local regulations, no matter the day.

To help you plan ahead, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of Thanksgiving 2024 travel restrictions for all 50 states. You’ll also find links to official resources, like state Department of Transportation (DOT) websites, to ensure you have the most accurate and up-to-date information. We recommend verifying details with the state DOT to avoid disruptions to your shipment.

From all of us at My PEVO, we wish you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
